Same Bulldog bark as your current 2207. More thrust than the old 2306. Runs 3A cooler. 5S delivers snappier throttle. Keeps the scream, stops killing motors.

ULTIMATE OPTION: T-Motor F80 Pro 2408 2200KV + 5S — same scream (236 m/s), 1,950g thrust, 42A, but with 45% more stator volume. The motor that won't melt your mount. ~$28.

Known Issues

Motor bogs under sustained load — 2207 stator lacks torque for 5045 at speed
Servo blow-back in high-speed dives — stock 8g servos can't hold control surfaces
Motor wire gauge mismatch — 20AWG motor leads in 3.5mm bullet connectors
4 motors burned in 2 years — sustained full throttle + streamer pulls + prop experiments
Motor heat melts hard plastic mount — sustained full throttle softens the hard plastic mount, motor sinks in. Screws feel loose but mount is actually deformed.
Long batteries cause CG issues — must use short-form packs for proper balance

Two Baselines, One Sound

Every comparison is measured against both motors. The 2207 is louder but bogs. The 2306 is slightly lower pitch but holds power. The ideal sits between them.

Keep the CG

The AeroScout CG is 67-70mm from the wing leading edge. Long batteries throw it off. Short-form packs only. Good news: 5S short packs exist that nearly match your current 4S.

Why this matters: Pusher config = motor weight at the rear. Battery sits forward to balance. A longer/heavier battery shifts CG forward (slightly nose heavy = okay). A battery that's the wrong shape won't seat properly and creates unpredictable CG shifts.

HIGHER C-RATE

OVONIC Rebel 2.0 5S 1300mAh 130C — slightly larger but still short-form. Better sustained discharge for streamer pulls. Worth the extra $4 if available.

AVOID

DXF 5S 1100mAh 60C — too light (tail-heavy CG shift on a pusher) and 60C is borderline for aggressive flying. Also avoid any long-form "stick" packs that won't seat properly.

Balance tip: After swapping to 5S, verify CG at 67-70mm from wing leading edge. If slightly nose heavy, that's fine on a pusher — it's self-correcting. If tail heavy, slide battery forward in the compartment or add ~5-10g of nose weight.

The Trademark Scream

Tip speed determines volume and pitch. The Bulldog blade shape creates the bark. Stay on 5045 to keep the signature.

The Bottom Line

01

To keep the Bulldog bark: stay on 5045. The 6" bullnose is a different sound — deeper growl instead of high-pitched scream. The bark comes from the blade shape at high RPM.

02

Best overall upgrade: Build B — RSIII 2306 2100KV on 5S + 5045. Sits right between both reference motors in sound, more thrust than the 2207, runs cooler at 42A, and the 5S delivers snappier throttle response.

03

Cheapest path to better: Build A — Flash 2306 2550KV on your existing 4S. Dead match to the old 2306 sound, 220°C wire so it survives streamer pulls and punch-outs.

04

Servo upgrade is mandatory at these power levels. Emax ES09MD HV on 6V BEC output — same footprint, 73% more torque. Eliminates dive blow-back.

05

Wire gauge: Direct solder motor-to-ESC for zero-resistance connections, or crimp proper 3.5mm bullets onto motor leads with heat shrink. Don't stuff 20AWG into oversized connectors.

06

Motor mount heat shield: Your motor is literally melting into the hard plastic mount. Fix: sandwich a thin aluminum plate (0.5-1mm) between motor and plastic mount — a soda can works, or cut a 16mm-hole circle from thin aluminum sheet. This reflects heat away from the plastic. A 5S + lower KV build also helps by running 3-7A cooler, which reduces motor temp significantly.
